Square / Plain Weave Wire Mesh Material Types
●Stainless Steel: It is one of the most popular materials due to its excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, and durability. Stainless steel wire mesh can withstand harsh environments, including exposure to chemicals, moisture, and high temperatures. Common grades include 304 and 316, with 316 offering better corrosion resistance, especially in marine or highly corrosive industrial settings.
●Carbon Steel: Carbon steel wire mesh is relatively inexpensive and has good mechanical strength. However, it is prone to rusting, so it often requires surface treatments such as galvanizing to enhance its corrosion resistance. It is commonly used in general – purpose filtration and screening applications where cost is a major consideration.
●Brass and Copper: These metals offer good electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, and corrosion resistance in some environments. Brass wire mesh is often used in decorative applications as well as in filtration processes where a non – magnetic and corrosion – resistant material is required. Copper wire mesh is sometimes used in applications related to electromagnetic shielding.
Square / Plain Weave Wire Mesh Applications
●Filtration and Separation: It is widely used in industries such as chemical processing, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, and water treatment for filtering liquids and gases. For example, in the food industry, it can be used to filter impurities from edible oils, juices, and dairy products. In water treatment plants, it helps to remove suspended solids from water.
●Screening and Sizing: In mining, quarrying, and aggregate industries, square / plain weave wire mesh is used for screening and sizing materials. It can separate different – sized particles of minerals, rocks, and other granular materials based on their size.
